Paper Doilies

I made the following doily cards this week. "Doily" is a funny word. I decided to look up the origin using Wikipedia. This is what it said...

Doiley was a 17th-century London draper, who made popular "a woolen stuff, 'at once cheap and genteel,' introduced for summer wear in the latter part of the 17th c." At the time, it was used as an adjective, as in "doily stuffs" or "doily suit." Later, usage shifted to refer to "a small ornamental napkin used at dessert," known as a "doily-napkin."

Butterflies for Nepal

A friend is going on a mission trip to Nepal to an orphanage. She has asked me to make cards for her to give to each girl. Here are the first 3 (12 more to go).

Heart-iversary

My dad had several heart bypass's 6 years ago (he is now 84).
I always send him a heart-iversary card to commemorate the
surgery. This is the card I'm sending this year.
I got the idea for the card off Pinterest.

Valentine for a boy.

Do you want to build a snowman?

We haven't had much snow the past several years.
That changed this week! I was finally able to build a snowman!

Paper Hearts

I saw a cute Valentine framed heart wall hanging in Ben Franklin's craft store. I decided to try making my own version of it on a white canvas. I used paper that I had on hand and was disappointed that the 3 colors aren't really defined. Next time I will purchase gradient shades at the store to avoid this happening. My heart punch could have been a bit smaller too, I think. Still a cute idea!
